1. String Ensemble
Beginning through advanced student string players
are welcome! The program is open to all violin, viola, cello,
and bass students between the ages of 6 and 17 who can read and play at
least the notes in first position.
Previous orchestral experience is not necessary.
We play together in a string orchestra, learning
ensemble skills and meeting new friends.
We play a lot of fun and energetic music, including well-known classical
pieces and folk songs.
At the end of the program, there is a concert to show everything the
group has accomplished.
Instructor :

2. Flute Choir
- Open to All Flutists, beginner
through advanced -
A flute choir is an ensemble entirely made up of instruments from the flute family, including the standard C flute,
piccolo, alto flute, and bass flute.
What are the benefits of participating in Flute Choir Because flute choir is a
chamber music experience,
it offers students the opportunity for more individual attention than is
possible in the school band Typically,
there are only one or two flutists assigned to each part. This helps the
participants develop a sense of
independence and musical responsibility that is sometimes lacking in a school
band setting where many flutists
play the same part, and it leads to the students becoming more comfortable
playing by themselves. Participation
in flute choir also helps students develop good listening and ensemble skills.
Special emphasis is placed on
improving intonation, phrasing, articulation and tone quality while keeping the
overall musical experience of
students in mind. In addition, by changing parts and instruments, the students
in the flute choir learn to pay
attention to how each part fits into the harmonic and melodic structure of the
music and get the opportunity to
perform not only on the flute and piccolo but also on the alto and bass flutes.
